Running Man brings 'A decade of laughter' to Manila
Filipino fans have waited for three long years for the “Running Man: A Decade of Laughter.” The tour was set to take place in 2020 but was halted because of the pandemic. This is the year for Running Man members and PH Runners (their fandom name) to finally meet face-to-face.
The show is everything that a fan could expect — funny, chaotic and heartwarming. Imagine meeting your longtime friends after being separated for years. This is the exact atmosphere that was felt in the Mall of Asia Arena last April 1 as Running Man members — TV host Yoo Jae-suk, singer Kim Jong-kook, actress Song Ji-hyo, actress Jeon So-min, singer Haha, TV personality Jee Seok-jin, and comedian Yang Se-chan — went onstage.
The show opened with a lovely rendition of the song Missing You by BTOB which depicts how the members felt toward their Filipino fans. Of course, the show wouldn’t be complete without fun interaction and competitive games among the members and their fans. There were endless chitchats and cute banter on stage which made everyone laugh. They also graced the audience with awesome individual stages that showed off their dancing and singing talents. One of the most iconic highlights was when Jee Seokjin sang Ikaw by Yeng Constantino to serenade the fans. It was also delightful to see all of them enjoy their performances and connect with the audience.
Running Man premiered in 2010 as a reality-variety show, and has been on the air for nearly 13 years. It is rare for the cast to go on tour outside Korea and they were surely overwhelmed by the cheers and warm welcome from Filipino fans.
“We are very much overwhelmed,” said Yoo Jae-suk. “Sometimes we ask ourselves, ‘Who are we to deserve this kind of love?’ I believe that because of your love and support, we are here. And of course, as long as you are there, we will keep running.”
