Art and space
Art and design have long been intertwined, each providing inspiration in the creation of beloved furniture pieces we have today. B&B Italia Manila takes a cue from this convergence with its latest exhibit, “Art & Space Serie 02: The Collector’s Edition.”
After the success of the first exhibit last year, B&B Italia Manila collaborated once more with interior stylist Glenn Cuevo to showcase signature furniture pieces alongside masterpieces from renowned artists.
Cuevo’s overall concept showcases what he aptly calls “Due” or “Gemello,” which means “two” or “twin” in Italian. It refers to his idea of arranging both furniture and artworks in such a way that one side creatively mirrors the other. Special B&B Italia pieces were highlighted, including the limited-edition Blitz Table by Mario Bellini, a powerful structural piece that runs in an edition of 100 pieces.
B&B Italia Manila’s Holly Quiec and Sadie Hwang guided guests through the different vignettes. Guests were treated to cocktails by Johnnie Walker Blue Label and Italian bites prepared by Focus Global’s in-house chefs.
The Amorsolo Room featured two paintings, completed with a non-traditional twist by the Bend Sofa by Patricia Urquiola, Pianura Small Table, and Pochette Armchair by Piero Lissoni, the latest addition to the Manila showroom.
Arturo Luz’s Performer Series, a collection of paintings that feature the artist’s fascination with performers and theatrical arts, was complemented by the Eileen Console. A space was dedicated to the artworks of contemporary artist Jigger Cruz, alongside a rare Lor Calma sculpture. The interiors were tied together with the iconic Camaleonda Sofa by Mario Bellini and Mini Papilio Chair by Naoto Fukasawa.
The main display on the 10th floor featured a monochromatic room with an assortment of works by glass sculptor Ramon Orlina, and paintings by HR Ocampo, Fernando Zobel, Arturo Luz and Ang Kiukok. The room was accented with classic pieces like the Mart, Atoll, and Le Bambole Armchairs with the Alanda 18 Small Tables all displayed in sets of twos.
Side-by-side in another area, Juvenal Sanso’s “Low Tide (Matabungkay)” painting was paired with Husk Armchairs, while the other had Annie Cabigting’s “Destroyed Painting” with its dark hues blending in with the deep colors of the Tufty-Time Sofa by Patricia Urquiola.

Seattle’s best opens in Cavite
Seattle’s Best Coffee just opened its largest store in the country to date in Kawit, Cavite. Sized at over 1,000 square meters, the two-level store has more than 100 seating capacity and offers a drive-thru feature.
